Russian defense ministry: Military plane carrying 91 disappears from radar enroute to Syria

Russian news agencies are reporting that one of the country's military planes has gone missing. Over 90 people are reportedly on board.



Citing Russian military sources, Russian media say 91 people were on board the TU-154 when it disappeared from radar screens over the Black Sea after taking off from the coastal city of Sochi on Sunday.

The passengers were reportedly members of Russia's famous Alexandrov Ensemble, a military music and performance group. The group was was on its way to Russia's Hmeimim military base outside of Latakia, Syria, for a performance.

The aircraft was reportedly carrying 83 passengers and 8 crew. Search and rescue crews have been dispatched to look for the missing plane.
